Alicia J. McMurray-Smith
Partner
Alicia McMurray-Smith is passionate about providing her clients the legal protections they need to succeed in business, real estate, and estate planning matters so they can achieve their goals without ever having to go to court in the first place. Before becoming an attorney, Ms. McMurray-Smith received her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Tennessee with a concentration in Rhetoric, Writing, and Language. She now uses the knowledge gained in her undergraduate concentration to draft effective legal documents that laypeople can easily understand.
However, if a lawsuit has already arisen, Ms. McMurray-Smith can help with that, too. A skilled litigator, Ms. McMurray-Smith regularly fights for her clients in business, family, and landlord-tenant matters. Ms. McMurray-Smith’s litigation background began at the University of Tennessee College of Law where she received an Advocacy Concentration and was involved in several mock trial and moot court teams. Her third year of law school, she was the captain of the National Trial Team, placed second in the Jenkins mock trial competition, and won the Advocate’s Prize moot court competition, the final round of which was judged by United States Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. She also participated in the University of Tennessee Legal Clinic where she won cases for real clients in court. This experience enables Ms. McMurray-Smith to regularly achieve the best results for her clients today.
Since becoming licensed in 2013 Ms. McMurray-Smith has been active in several legal organizations including the state and local Bar Associations and Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity which awarded her the Best International Marshall Award at their 2016 International Convention in Washington D.C. In her spare time, Ms. McMurray-Smith likes to read and takes yoga classes. She is particularly interested in aerial yoga which combines traditional yoga with acrobatics.
